Emballagegruppen sold to Schur
As at 14 August 2019 Schur International took over Emballagegruppen in Vejle from Maj Invest Equity. At the beginning of 2019, Maj Invest Equity acquired the family-owned company Good Food Group in Vejle, to which Emballagegruppen was affiliated as a 100% owned subsidiary until the transfer to Maj Invest Equity.
Emballagegruppen A/S which produces carton packaging and label products at two separate locations in Vejle, has a turnover of approx. DKK 180 million (EUR 25 million) and employs 130 people.
"Our ownership of Emballagegruppen has been considerably shorter than planned but after having focused on the core business via divestment of subsidiaries and activities within commercial printing and after having carried out major strategic work with the management group, we now have a business which has turned out to fit perfectly into Schur's product portfolio and future plans. Notwithstanding our short period of ownership, we have found that a divestment would be the right thing to do at the present moment as Schur sees good possibilities to further develop Emballagegruppen under its ownership", says Per Høholt, partner in Maj Invest Equity.
"With the acquisition of Emballagegruppen we have added further production capacity and in addition to this, Emballagegruppen offers interesting technologies such as coldfoil, pressed cardboard trays and label products. Emballagegruppen is renowned for delivering high quality and service to a stable Scandinavian customer portfolio, and we look forward to continuing and further developing the co-operation with these customers", says Hans Schur, CEO in Schur International A/S.

I am proud to have taken part of this PE-journey as Chairman of the Board, as well as Executive Chairman of Emballagegruppen A/S. As said, an unusually short, however very successful and value-creating PE-journey. A journey with many facets of growth strategy with segment-based customer propositions and action plans, focus through the divestment of subsidiaries, and the development of a competent and committed management team ready to drive the transformation from a production-oriented to a customer-oriented company.
